Welcome to another episode of Much Abrew About Nothing. Last week, it seems that everyone thought one Instant Deck Tech in particular was epic: Enduring Ideal! So, this week, we are heading to Modern to see if a seven-mana sorcery can be good enough in the format, with some support from janky enchantments like Dovescape to lock the opponent out of the game and Form of the Dragon to finish the game.
Really, Enduring Ideal is half Enchantress and half Mono-White Prison, looking to lock the opponent out of the game with disruptive enchantments like Ghostly Prison , Runed Halo , and Suppression Field long enough to resolve an Enduring Ideal , which should be enough for us to win the game! Anyway, that's all for today. Don't forget to vote for next week's deck by liking, commenting on, and subscribing to Instant Deck Tech videos! Killing your enchantments or trying to burn you out is no longer an option, and many combo decks cease to function.
The 2 cards together present a soft lock, but you need to watch out for the Birds attacking you. This deck has tons of ways to stop creatures from pressuring you, and early on in the game you will rely on Ghostly Prison to minimize the number of creatures that can enter the red zone. So many decks rely on going wide with small creatures, some operate on one land, and Ghostly Prison can shut them down. Sphere of Safety is Ghostly Prison 5 which is often more powerful after an Enduring Ideal , and Ensnaring Bridge can make sure the large creatures and eventually all creatures stay away from your life total.
You have tons of early creature interaction. This is a nearly mono-white deck, and you have lots of white enchantments you can cast early to build up a huge number of white mana symbols for your devotion count. This means that you can play 4 copies of Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and use that to accelerate out a quick epic spell. You can actually get some enchantments into play early, use those to ramp a couple more enchantments into play, and now your Nykthos will be making 7 mana on its own.
Form of the Dragon is your win condition. This is one of the most flavorful spells ever printed—it effectively turns you into a firebreathing Dragon. Your life total becomes 5, and it resets each turn, just as if you had 5 toughness that needed to be extinguished to win the game.
Infect is one of those decks that can win out of nowhere. If you decide to run this or a similar list at your LGS, or even at a GP, do take some pictures and let us know in the comments or on Twitter.
